A nanocatalyst-based assay for proteins: DNA-free ultrasensitive electrochemical detection using catalytic reduction of p-nitrophenol by gold-nanoparticle labels.

This communication reports a nanocatalyst-based electrochemical assay for proteins. Ultrasensitive detection has been achieved by signal amplification combined with noise reduction: the signal is amplified both by the catalytic reduction of p-nitrophenol to p-aminophenol by gold-nanocatalyst labels and by the chemical reduction of p-quinone imine to p-aminophenol by NaBH4; the noise is reduced ...

Au nanoparticles/g-C3N4 modified biosensor for electrochemical detection of gastric cancer miRNA based on hairpin locked nucleic acids probe

Objective: The annual incidence of cancer in the world is growing rapidly. The most important factor in the cure of cancers is their early diagnosis. miRNA, as a biomarker for early detection of cancer, has attracted a lot of attention. Methods: In this study, an electrochemical biosensor was developed to detect the amount of miR-106a, the biomarker of gastric cancer, by modifying a glass...

Rational, modular adaptation of enzyme-free DNA circuits to multiple detection methods

Signal amplification is a key component of molecular detection. Enzyme-free signal amplification is especially appealing for the development of low-cost, point-of-care diagnostics. It has been previously shown that enzyme-free DNA circuits with signal-amplification capacity can be designed using a mechanism called 'catalyzed hairpin assembly'. However, it is unclear whether the efficiency and m...

Programmable Mg(2+)-dependent DNAzyme switch by the catalytic hairpin DNA assembly for dual-signal amplification toward homogeneous analysis of protein and DNA.

The catalytic hairpin DNA assembly-programmed active Mg(2+)-dependent DNAzyme was proposed for dual-signal amplified detection toward protein and DNA. The protein detection was implemented with the further combination of an additional terminal protection strategy. The detection limit toward avidin and target DNA could be achieved as 2 pM and 0.5 pM, respectively, with a high selectivity.

A new mode for highly sensitive and specific detection of DNA based on exonuclease III-assisted target recycling amplification and mismatched catalytic hairpin assembly.

A novel electrochemical sensing strategy was developed for highly sensitive and specific detection of DNA by combining the exonuclease III-assisted target recycling amplification with mismatched catalytic hairpin assembly. The proposed method showed high sensitivity and selectivity with a dynamic response range from 100 fM to 5 nM.
